Post-Doctoral Policy Fellowship

The Florida Institute for Child Welfare designed a 12-month fellowship (with the possibility of renewal for an additional year, depending on performance and available funding) to support early career scholars who have an interest in child welfare research and policy. Fellows have the following benefits:

  • supervision and mentorship by the Director of the Institute
  • extensive opportunities to network with child welfare policymakers, Department of Children and Families’ leadership, and statewide faculty and research affiliates
  • direct experience translating research findings into policy recommendations for state legislators
  • attending House and Senate committee meetings at the Florida State Capitol, community leadership meetings, and child welfare conferences
  • experience with ongoing research (quantitative and qualitative), submitting proposals for state and federal grants, tracking legislation, and writing and reviewing reports
  • publication and dissemination opportunities
